WOODSIDE PARK has strengthened its stallion roster, acquiring an interest in exciting two-year-old Nikitas.

A son of super sire Snitzel from General Nediym mare Mine Game, the colt is a half-brother to Jameka, winner of last year’s Group 1 VRC Oaks.

Nikitas was offered by Segenhoe Stud at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and knocked down to John Foote Bloodstock for $280,000.

Trained at Eagle Farm by Kelso Wood, he has had three starts, bolting in on debut over 1200 metres at Doomben, before finishing third in the G3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) on the Gold Coast. At his most recent start, he ran second to boom colt Capitalist (Written Tycoon) in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m), also on the Gold Coast.

"We were obviously cheering on Capitalist in the Magic Millions Classic as he is by our great stallion Written Tycoon, but we had our eyes fixed on Nikitas as well, as we saw his impressive debut at Doomben and looked up his pedigree back then and said ‘wow’,” said Woodside Park Stud's Matt Tillett.
