FOR some inexplicable reason, May has always been a defining month in the life of Michael Walker. And, so it promises to be again, as he recovers from another headline-making chapter of what has been a headline-grabbing life.
Walker has tentatively scheduled May as the month he will return to riding after a misadventure at his Melbourne suburban apartment in early April, which saw him black out in his bathroom, strike his head on the bath tub and suffer bleeding to the brain.
It sounds serious and it undoubtedly is, but in the grand scheme of things, Walker has faced far greater challenges. Eight years ago he was on life support after a terrifying 70-metre fall.
