Sandown 9, No 15 WIDGEE TURF - 1st
The most impressive winner at a wet Sandown was saved for the last race with this talented 4 year old from the Patrick Payne yard. Drew wide but Billy Egan just kept him comfortable the whole trip before exploding away late for a comfortable first up victory. Still only a 79 rater so would be very surprised if he couldn't win a few more and work through the grades over the summer.
Rosehill Race 1, No 5 TOULOUSE - 3rd
Lovely big striding colt having his first start and was spat out the back early but in a race where it looked like the chasing brigade were running in quicksand he's absolutely motored late to only go down half a length in the end after conceding a big deficit. Still got some learning to do but there's plenty of raw ability there and he looks one to follow as he matures.
Doomben Race 7, No 6 PIERATA - 1st
Showed ability as a two year old but he's really put it all together now in what was a dominant fresh performance. He put this race away in a matter of a few strides after Corey Brown angled him away from the inside coming for home. He can beat much better horses than this and with that turn of foot it'd be surprising if he didn't lob up at Group level.
