Kangaroo Island - Australia's third largest island and heaps better than King Island.
It's also the sort of place that a young man with a thirst for adventure can get swept up in the excitement of a bush auction, leaving his financial fortunes teetering on the result of a country cup.
That's what our man Mick Sharkie learned on a recent trip to the island for the 2016 Kangaroo Island Cup. He indulged in local seafood, sampled the hospitality of the local constabulary, and put his faith in a beat up former Group 2 winner in the local Cup calcutta - without checking with his better half if he was allowed to open his wallet.
Find out how Mick fared in the video above and check out some of the colour from one of Australia's great bush race days.
