JOAO MOREIRA (Heartbreak City, 2nd): “Fantastic run, but we just didn’t win the race. He had a beautiful run and turning for home I thought he was going to win as I went past Hartnell easily, but then I saw Kerrin McEvoy and his horse was full of himself.” 

JAMES McDONALD (Hartnell, 3rd): “He went superb. He got into a nice rhythm down the back, but he just trucks a little bit hard for the two miles. He is a good galloper and had a good crack.”

CRAIG WILLIAMS (Qewy, 4th): “He was very gallant. The stable summed him up really well, he’s an out and out stayer. He’s very honest, very trust worthy. He fought his heart out and finished fourth in our greatest race.”

HUGH BOWMAN (Who Shot Thebarman, 5th): “I was delighted with my horse. With a better draw he may have travelled a bit closer and finished a bit closer, but no excuses. He had a beautiful run.”

MICHAEL WALKER (Almoonqith, 6th): “He ran well, but the others just had a better turn of foot.”

DAMIAN LANE (Beautiful Romance, 7th): “She ran super. She nearly fell on her head out of the barriers. If she could have held her spot, she could have been right in it."

DAMIEN OLIVER (Exospheric, 8th): “He ran really well, he moved into it on the turn, but didn’t get the two miles. Nice 2000-2400 metre horse.”
