NO MUCKING AROUND: Glen Boss was a man on a mission today. The Hall Of Fame jockey rode the Peter Moody-trained Rock ForThe Ladies to victory in The Grand Hotel Frankston Handicap (1200m) and less than 20 minutes later, armed with a bottle of Gatorade, he had left the track. Boss quipped that Rock For The Ladies was the only ride he could gain on the eight-race Ladbrokes Park program. “I’ve got to make the most of my opportunities,” Boss quipped as he disappeared into the car park. Earlier Boss, wearing a set of lycra colors noted that, while most jockeys preferred to wear the traditional colors, the lycra gave him the opportunity to showcase his “guns”. And, no, he didn’t say it with a straight face.

FINALLY A DIVIDEND: Mark Kavanagh has a well-documented affinity with the progeny of Street Cry, who sired his Melbourne Cup winner Shocking. Kavanagh has many Street Cry horses in his stable, including Street Sharp, a $380,000 purchase from the Sydney Easter yearling sale, who posted his first win in 10 starts when he won the Cove Hotel Plate (1600 m). While Kavanagh notified stewards that he planned to ride Street Sharp forward the four-year-old wasn’t able to muster the necessary early speed and jockey Craig Williams noted he had to go to "Plan D" then work his way up to "Plan B" during the race.
