After a four year layoff, the once-a-year Marthaguy Picnics at Quambone are back.
And as those from the bush will tell, a little community can still make a lot of difference.
“There’s 100 people that live in Quambone,” club secretary Marg Garnsey told G1X.com.au.
“We got washed out in 2014 and the meeting just never came back.
“We had three AGM’s since and at the third and final attempt to reactivate the race-club, we got a commitment from a sufficient amount of people.”
Twenty in fact, there’s twenty of the 100 ‘Quambonians’ now on the race-club’s committee, and they’ve implemented some significant changes to ensure this 108-year-old race-meeting powers on for some time yet.
