Wednesday racing at Ipswich can't take a trick at the moment with it's second midweek meeting in two weeks called off with again the stewards not satisfied with a section of the track. The card on September 26 deemed there was an issue with the irrigation system which left an area of the track badly effected from the winning post to the 1500m with today's problem lying just past the winning post.
It seems a controversial move with the Ipswich Turf Club at least with them recently tweeting out the following "Peno at 7:30pm had the track as soft/heavy; decision was made by @QRICStewards & @racing_qld without full consultation with the club to call off the meeting based on an area 13-15m off the rail with a peno reading in heavy 8 range. Another peno reading will be taken at 1pm."
No decision has been made as to whether this meeting may take place later in the week or potentially moved with Friday being currently discussed as an option.
