With the legendary veteran hoop Jeff Lloyd hanging up the saddle shortly, former Melbourne based jockey Ryan Maloney is set to take over the mantle for the Toby Edmonds yard at beginning of the 2018/2019 racing season.
Maloney, who had a terrific start to 2018 halted after testing positive in a urine sample at Caulfield and was subsequently banned for four months, confirmed early on social media today of the new opportunity as of August 1.
"As I make my return to riding in the new season I have taken up a great opportunity to ride for Queensland leading trainer in @Edmon1 great team of horses and staff." Maloney tweeted out this morning.
There will certainly be some plumb rides available for the ex Victorian with the 56 year old Lloyd currently holding a 25 win advantage on Jim Byrne at the top of the Queensland Jockey premiership.
