Payne stood down for positive swab

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne has been stood down by stewards after returning a positive sample to the banned substance Phentermine.

The substance in question, Phentermine is an appetite suppressant, Payne's sample was taken on Swan Hill Cup Day, 11th June 2017. 

Payne was stood down from riding in races and in trackwork by stewards on 23rd June 2017 ahead of a stewards enquiry which is scheduled for tomorrow, June 29th 2017.

Payne became an international headline when she took out the 2015 Melbourne Cup aboard $100/1 outsider Prince of Penzance, making her the first female to win the race. Payne more recently made headlines riding at Royal Ascot, where she finished 5th on Kaspersky.
