Race 3 - (1200 METRES) - WILLIAM THOMAS - 3rd. Trainer: John Price.
Been a victim of circumstances at his last two where he didn't get the tempo he needed at Caulfield when rising to this grade and early in this card it was hard to make ground, where again he was the eye catcher late. I'd be sticking with him and with his rating he can find something a little easier or perhaps he's looking for 7 furlongs now.
Race 8 - (1600 METRES) - THE STATESMAN - 3rd. Trainer: Maher & Eustace.
Expecting improvement this campaign like many imports in their second Australian preparation and he did show promise the first time around, so not all that surprising he ran a race here at odds although ultimately found the mile a little sharp. Genuine stayer that's still down in the ratings and will be ready to produce his best at 2000m plus.
Race 9 - (1400 METRES) - BUFFALO RIVER - 1st. Trainer: Michael Moroney.
Burnt the candle at both ends in his Australian debut to score but with a bunny to chase here, took the next step in another impressive display where he's given Asgard Masiff (who's no slouch) an absolute bath in the end with a further 3 lengths back to third. This is only his second racing preparation overall and that ability to sprint off a strong tempo up front will hold him in good stead for better rac...
