CAULFIELD - Shane Templeton

BEST BET:

Race 8, No. 11 MASTERING

Bumped into an emerging star at Flemington, was a month between runs and better suited back around a bend. Was most impressive first up before that and should bounce straight back.

BEST VALUE:

Race 9, No. 9 STREETS OF AVALON

Tends to fly under the radar and has a decent record at Caulfield where he has won well in this grade. Is pretty consistent and at big odds, can run a race fresh.

ASCOT - Andrew Oldmeadow

BEST BET:

Race 3, No. 4 ROYAL STATUE

Looks a really nice race for this 4yo son of Statue Of Liberty. Just ran out of runway last time out over the 1500m behind Lucky Roar, gets an extra 100m today and draws beautifully in barrier 2. Loves racing at Ascot (4:3,1,0) and Pike will do the steering, plenty of ticks!

BEST VALUE:

Race 5, No. 1 REBEL KING

He's certainly the class runner of this field and if he can return anywhere near his best he will give this a shake. Draws perfectly for Mitch Pateman and the 59kg won't be a worry for him as he's carried big weights successfully previously. At the $14 I think he's worth an each way ticket.

KENSINGTON - David Taggart

BEST BET:

Race 4, No. 10 NINDAMOS

Could not of been more impressive on debut when given a chance to balance up and came from last for a soft win in the end. Draws out again and will be ridden quiet so he can posses his great turn of foot and get over the top of them. Out of a group 1 mare in Neroli and he also looks a serious horse in the making.

BEST VALUE:

Race 5, No. 1 SWEET SCANDAL

Looked to race flat and was disappointing when second up as she looked a moral beat when resuming this campaign. Hasn't drawn well at all and will need a great ride from Weatherly to overcome the outside gate but she does drop in grade and looks over the odds here at $7.

GAWLER - Alex Marsh

BEST BET:

Race 4, No. 1 CANFORD

Might have a bit on these class-wise. Terrific return at Strathalbyn where that form has been franked and is open to improvement again here stepping up in trip. Has a nice future this 4yo and looks awfully hard to beat here.

BEST VALUE:

Race 5, No. 3 EXALTED TRAIL

Clearly needed the run first up, covered ground and was a big drifter late in the betting ($3.70-$5.50). Is at each way odds of $10 where he draws kind and this isn't strong with a $1.70 fav that looks rock bottom in the market.

GOLD COAST - Rick Morris

BEST BET:

Race 5, No. 1 TYZONE

Has raced at listed company or better at his past five starts so this is a much easier task. Has won 7 races at this distance and gets in with a 2 kilo claim. Will sit just off them and should be too good late.

BEST VALUE:

Race 7, No. 1 UNCONDITIONAL

His run was out of character last time and with Jeff Lloyd back on and blinkers on we could see a big improvement. $7.50 is a pretty good price and wouldn't be surprised if better was on offer.
