The past three Caulfield Guineas winners all had a lead up race in the G2 Stan Fox Stakes at Randwick and 5 of the 6 winners prior went through the Guineas Prelude at Caulfield. All Too Hard in 2012 ran in the George Main Stakes at WFA.
There is a notable difference this year in the timing of the Stan Fox Stakes as it will be held tomorrow, almost 5 weeks before the Guineas as compared with last year being on the 24th of September. With the five week gap between the Stan Fox Stakes it may not be as good a guide it has been previously.
Chauffeur $13 ran on very well against Pariah last start in the G3 San Domenico so looks as though he will improve with the extra distance. Chauffeur really didn't enjoy the heavy tracks in the autumn carnival and looks to have come back stronger this time in. As he was purchased for $1.6m you would think the Guineas would be a major priority for this colt. Suspect he could be a big mover in the market with a good performance tomorrow
