Generally a country meeting at Donald wouldn't be too noteworthy, a Maiden Highweight and a bunch of BM58's mainly filled the 8 race card however in the 2yo Maiden Plate with a field of just 7 horses, Bendigo veteran Allen Browell came out on top with Star Hills, a debutant by Magnus from the mare Two Hills.
Two Hills would ring a bell with many race fans, a handy race mare purchased for just $8,000 (also trained by Browell) who won three races in town and amassed over $363,000 in prize money,
Star Hills (her first foal) put them away comfortably on Saturday, beating a field containing two each from the Mick Price and Darren Weir camps by 3 lengths and Browell sees a good future.
"We bred him from our good mare (Two Hills) and he was a very small yearling, he's still only a little horse but he's got talent, it can always be hard to tell exactly how far these ones can go but he's handy enough"
