In close to two decades in the saddle, I rode over 800 winners including six G1s and 50 Group or Listed winners – so I reckon I’m well-qualified to critique jockeys.
That’s exactly what I’m going to do every Monday, in this column. I’ll nominate the best rides from the weekend – the jockeys that were ‘On Taggart’, and the ride that I think missed the mark, which we'll call ‘Off Taggart’.
BRAD PARNHAM – Variation – 1st
Belmont – Race 6
(No. 1, barrier 11)
A lot of races can be decided in the first 100m whether you ride one good or bad.and Parnham took up the initiative early from barrier 11 and was afforded a good run, luck was involved but he earned it from being positive. Parnham guided Variation at the right time to get on the back of a tiring Gatting and played the percentages. From there it was game over. 10/10 there Brad.
