Jockey Chelsea Jokic is in Mackay Base Hospital with a fractured skull after a fall in a jump out on Thursday afternoon.
The 21-year-old is resting comfortably and awaiting test results.
Jokic will be transferred to either Brisbane or Townsville, most likely on Friday, and may require surgery.
“She’s in good spirits,” Mackay trainer John Manzelmann told G1X.com.au.
“She’s got quite a decent cork in her left thigh and fracture of her skull, which is a little bit bigger than a fifty-cent piece.
“She’s waiting on the neurosurgeon to get back to her with test results; they’ve sent all the pictures of the fracture away.
“She may need a little plate in there or they may just let it settle down itself.”
Earlier in the day, Jokic had six rides on Mackay’s seven-race card, and chalked up her 46th win of the season aboard the Manzelmann-trained Rockette Rocket in the 1100m Benchmark 70 Handicap.
It was her 17th winner for Manzelmann from 167 rides.
