  • Rail Position: +3m 1900m-1500m, True Remainder.
  • Track Conditions: Soft 5.
  • Track Comments: Cops a fair whack from plenty with it's somewhat unreliable surface but it's a big circuit and they can generally make ground.

Race 6, No. 2 DEVONTE

Will need the breaks from the inside alley however you can make ground here with the big home straight and this resuming 4yo is the most progressive galloper in this line-up. Should be unbeaten as after his big debut win, he bombed the start at his latest before being tipped out and did trial well leading into this behind an impressive Saturday winner.

Bred to get over further so her first step to 1400m following the maiden victory should be a plus and on the clock for that win, was only a few lengths slower than Sir Johnson who arguably should have won on Saturday. Nistaan the one to beat, but he can throw a race away, so the $1.70 does look thin whilst this one is an each way quote.

Jeffrey Maund can boot them home at a price. He rode a winning double last Wednesday at Gawler (paid $7 and $17 respectively) and his 5 winners at Balaklava over the last 12 months have come at an average winning price of $15. He has 5 rides today and they're all at bolters odds.

Race 1, No. 6 LORD VARYS

Wasn't all that far away a few times last campaign and first up today, has been well supported early at good odds ($13.00 - $5.50).

Leg 1: 1,2,3,7,9

Leg 2: 2

Leg 3: 1,2,3,4

Leg 4: 2,6,7,12

$40 gets you 50%.

Race 1: 5-6-3-1. Tricky start to the card. Kiroshima the default fav after the fresh run behind a very smart one. Has been big odds in all his career starts to date, though, so it'll pay to watch the betting here.

Race 2: 5-4-1-7. Lis De Lune was somewhat unlucky on debut in town before being spelled. Has been given plenty of time but was good late in her trial leading in and may be a lead for Devonte's chances later on (in the same Murray Bridge heat).

Race 3: 5-1-10-4. Was a big price on debut but he did catch the eye getting home to almost pinch a place and this is a very weak maiden. Watch the betting with the stable mate who gets the blinkers on.

Race 4: 1-4-5-2. His lack of second up form is the obvious knock but he was very impressive in making ground fresh and on his Rockarral and Excessabeel form last prep, is the class runner.

Race 5: 1-7-3-9. Always tough to line-up these midweek staying races in SA as they all take their turns and they're all well exposed. Diamonds Are unknown at the trip but gets in well with the claim.

Race 6: 2-6-4-1. Best Bet see above.

Race 7: 4-1-2-3. Bolter see above.

Race 8: 12-7-6-2. A lot of these don't win out of turn including Artistic Focus but he was strong late behind Sir Johnson who did put in a big performance on Saturday.
