  • Rail Position: Out 3m.
  • Track Conditions: Good 4.
  • Track Comments: Rail well back in from the Wednesday meeting and there's an upgrade in the surface.

Race 8, No. 5 CUP NIGHT

Unbeaten from three runs last campaign which ended in a win in listed company before being tipped out. Trialled very nicely for this return and whilst he'll get over more ground in time, has shown his versatility with two wins at the 1200m. Has the most upside of this field and draws for a soft run in transit.

Specked at a big price ($21-$15) to win a similar race to this a fortnight ago and prevailed with a well timed run from midfield. Was only third up, so can hold his form and only goes up half a kilo on that performance. Still was the strongest on the line and is a decent each way quote again at 15/1.

Apprentice Jade McNaught is taking good advantage of her claim and at Belmont so far this season, her 8 winners have come at a strike rate of 27.6%. She has a strong book of 7 rides this afternoon.

Race 3, No. 5 SOME SORT

Likely leader with the 2kg claim and it's been the only one the punters have come for in this competitive line-up ($3.40 - $2.40).

Leg 1: 3,7,9,10

Leg 2: 1,3,5,6,7,9

Leg 3: 5

Leg 4: 1,2,3,5,6,7,12

$42 gets you 25%.

Race 1: 5-2-4-3. Black Ducati will get over more ground in time but is the progressive galloper of this field that did enough to score fresh and draws for a soft run on speed.

Race 2: 5-8-10-1. Trialled up well twice for his return with the blinkers off (last in good time) and appreciated being ridden with a sit there. Not an overly deep maiden.

Race 3: 8-5-3-1. Tough race and there isn't all that much between the raced brigade from what we've seen. The betting with this well bred first starter with Pike to ride could tell the story.

Race 4: 2-6-8-3. A lot of these don't win out of turn. Stratocreed has the least convictions of them and is better suited to 1400m second up. Draws for a soft run in transit with the claim.

Race 5: 2-3-4-5. Spritual Warrior the form runner but is starting to creep up in the weights. No Say It the better value potentially coming back in grade and rising to the staying trip.

Race 6: 9-10-7-3. Amelia's On Fire the one to catch and the galloper with perhaps a future but odds on first up as a 3yo filly against the older horses? Rockafella e/w at $8 the better value who was good fresh.

Race 7: 1-5-9-6. Open event. In Love With Paris has had chances but is well back in grade and the in-form Jade McNaught should look to be positive early as the speed is a big query in this.

Race 8: 5-1-3-8. Best Bet see above.

Race 9: 5-2-6-3. Bolter see above.
