Local No. 9 MARWINZIG is the early bank builder. He ran home strongly for second at Sale and has the blinkers on for the first time tonight. No. 11 Cheryl Anne Can also has blinkers on and she will be much better for her first-up run when she battled away well and did not miss the place by much. No. 5 Choice Approach had trialled well in Sydney before his reasonable first-up run at Pakenham. He has the blinkers off. No. 6 Eagles Dare, another local, is very consistent and will be competitive again.
Back Marwinzig to win. Quinella 9 with 11,6,5 for varying units.
No.1 SHACARDE has raced four times at the provincials for three wins. She has been racing against stronger company, gets in quite well after the claim and will enjoy the 1200m. Her stablemate No. 6 Claudia Jean was pushed wide when making her run at Moonee Valley and will be all the fitter for it. No. 9 Iamhere goes up in grade but was most impressive winning her first start for the new stable. No. 2 Strykum is much better than her recent form might suggest.
Stake Shacarde one the win by three the place. Box quinella 1,7,9.
No. 3 MOMENTARY is the value runner of the night. The key to him is racing here at his home track where he has started 11 times for three wins and four placings. He stayed to the inside, when he failed in a slowly run, leader-dominated race at Sale. No. 9 Kachiko is a second-up winner, is in a strong stable and went well enough first up. No. 8 Choice Princess is fit, racing consistently and has a clever claim. No. 5 Rong Door Reggie resumes. He is lightly raced and trialled well recently. No. 7 Toast is well drawn and his latest run was encouraging.
Stake Momentary one by three.
