No. 5 TREASURY BOND was impressive on a heavy track here two weeks ago over the 1400m. He travelled sweetly and extended well to win comfortably. Good to see them stick at the seven furlongs as he just finds the mile a touch too much. Only rises 1kg at the weights and draws for the right run again. Should win again. No. 4 Van Diemens Fire was a month between runs in the same race as our toppy, got shuffled back and still managed to find the line well. Was ridden too cold there so from the wide draw I expect them to be more positive early, fitter too. No. 7 Livermore trialled nicely with the blinkers on 1/3 at Hobart. He's been on the heels of better gallopers than this in the past and is a live chance. No. 11 Speckie would get back and run on in a Melbourne Cup. If they go mad he's a chance but needs things panning out in his favour.
Backing Treasury Bond (100 units) to win.
No. 4 TROT ON CANDY was a dominant winner when rolling to the front at Hobart a month ago over the 1200m, this race is no harder and he again maps to find the front from the inside draw. Can produce a big final 400m and I expect him to win again. No. 7 Step The Pedal drops 2kgs for a recent win here two weeks and is a genuine chance again. Doesn't look a whole lot of speed on paper, which concerns me but if they do motor up front he'll be savaging the line over the top late. No. 5 Partenza is a better horse than what she showed at Hobart in early February. Has been given a month to freshen up and does map for a good run in transit. No. 10 Viva La Verve back to 1200m will suit. Has been racing at unsuitable trips of late and failing to finish off. On the minimum with Siggy Carr on board she could return to somewhere near her best.
Backing Trot On Candy (100 units) to win.
No. 4 LIBERTY DANCE stuck on gamely at Hobart the best part of four weeks ago in what proved a swoopers race. She looks the leader on paper here and has the winkers going on for the first time to keep her mind on the job. Drops 1kg at the weights and gets Anthony Darmanin on. With the run under her belt she looks very hard to beat on my estimations. No. 1 The Captain has had his chances of late and again should go close. The wide draw means he'll roll forward and he gets in well at the weights, thanks to the 3kg claim from Stephanie Thornton. As a plus, He's at his top from a fitness perspective. No. 9 Islandsinthestream trialled nicely at Longford two weeks ago and she could surpirse fresh with no weght on her back. No. 2 Cameo Kiss made really good ground in November last year around some smart horses. Fresh over the 1200m will see him figure.
Backing Liberty Dance (100 units) to win.
