Race 4, No. 0

Few non winners here, so prepared to play the odds. No. 4 PRINCE DAN has recorded seven minor placings at this track from seven starts. Ashley Butler is aboard again and at $11 he can be backed each way with confidence after his last-start third at Rockhampton. No.7 Coventry has been second in his past five starts. He has placed at five of nine starts here. No. 3 Our Neddy Boy was also third at Rockhampton last start behind Okay Swift and form the inside gate is sure to be competitive. No.5 Imbosteria improved dramatically last start in placing 0.5L second to Schnelles Pferd at Townsville over 1200m in a BM65 on February 26.

Race 5, No. 0

Great match race here between the top raters under set weights conditions. No.1 CRAIGLEA WANDOO is much better suited at 1200m than miler/middle distance runner No.2 Legal Procedure. From gate 2 with level weights and Adrian Coombe in the irons, this three-year-old looks likely to rack up his tenth career win. Legal Procedure probably has more scope but dropping back from 1600m to 1200m is not ideal. No.3 Supreme Jet is no slouch and could give these a run for their money, just as he did last start when 0.1L second to the top pick over this course last start. He meets the top pick 7kg worse at the weights here, which demonstrates just how well in Craiglea Wandoo is at set weights. No. 4 Casino Thoughts is one for inclusion in multiples.

Race 6, No. 0

No. 6 STANATHOL drops significantly in weight here after winning a BM60 here with 63.5kg before placing 0.3L second to Shepiktus over this course with 60.5kg. This is harder but the gelding is in great form and the early odds of $4.80 fixed looks worth the punt. No. 3 Charcoal Melody is also in great form and drops in weight after lumping 59kg to victory at Gladstone in Open Company over 850m last start. No. 1 Daph ’N’ Alf goes well fresh and has an impressive record. He also has an impressive weight and with 63kg after the apprentice claim. He will need to be at his very best to match a couple of race-fit lightweights. No. 4 Executed has won two of three fresh and resumes from a 31-week spell after racing in better company last preparation.
