Winter must be on its way as we see the start of jumps racing in SA for 2016 here. No. 7 INSUPERABLE should lead at his first go over the hurdles this preparation. He has been racing in career-best form on the flat including a very solid 3.2L fourth to the talented Tidy Prophet in a BM 75 over 1950m on the parks track on February 13, when he led and stuck on very well. This bloke won a hurdle trial here on February 29, which is a great pointer to him being very hard to beat. No. 1 Urban Explorer is the class horse of the field and looks fit and ready to win at his fifth run in this time. His last-start third at Donald was solid he ran on very well over the 2000m to finish third behind Last Typhoon on March 4. Urban Explorer is unbeaten at Oakbank thus he must be respected despite having to give away plenty of weight to his rivals. No. 2 About the Journey also looks a wining hope after his recent dominant trial victory at Cranbourne over the hurdles. He was competitive in SA over the jumps last year and no doubt master trainer Eric Musgrove will have him ready to go in this.
Back Insuperable straight out.
This is a thin race in which No. 1 MISS MARGARITA can race right on the speed and win first-up. She was consistent last preparation including a very good second to Red Begonia at Balaklava over 1320m on July 8, she beat Molly the Snip into third on that occasion and both of those horses are Saturday grade. She has won first-up in the past and with the 3kg claim for in-form apprentice Zac Spain she looks a great chance. No. 2 Urban Bourbon won easily last start at Balaklava over 1200m in a BM 58 on February 28. He defeated Tuscan Fever there who is good on his day and on a different track this bloke would be clear top pick. No.2 Urban Bourbon gets a long way back in his races and needs to balance up and run home, 1100m at Oakbank does not give him much chance to do that so if he does win it will be a good effort. No.4 Barigan Boy is very classy when at his best. He is first-up here and will appreciate the claim. He will be mighty hard to beat if he’s anywhere near right.
Back Miss Margarita straight out and save Urban Bourbon.
This is a weak maiden and on that basis I am confident that there are two clear main chances. No. 9 HARMONIUM BELLS ran very well last start finishing a close third behind Saltarello at Balaklava over 1200m on February 28. She showed good speed out of the gates and ended up trailing the leader. She took a bit of balancing up and winding up but hit the line really well on that occasion and certainly showed that she is looking for the 1400m at least. From gate 1 in this, she maps to lead or trail the lead and she will be very hard to beat. No. 4 Heidi Star also ran very well in that same race behind Saltarello, she was behind Harmonium Bells in the run and made a strong run up on the fence and looked like she is ready to win a race over this distance range. She will again be behind Harmonium Bells in the run and that may be the difference between these two evenly matched girls. No. 11 Swimmer ran well last start at Balaklava on February 28 behind two smart horses in Out Of Italy and the last-start city winner Metro Cowboy. She looks a very honest filly and is sure to run well in this if she handles the hills.
Back Harmonium Bells and Heidi Star both straight out with confidence and take multiples with the top three.
