  • Rail Position: Out 6m.
  • Track Conditions: Good 3.
  • Track Comments: Has been some advatge to the on-pace runners here of late. Will pay to monitor any of those patterns early in the card.

Lovely type that resumed here with a strong performance and ran time for the day bettering some other strong 6 furlong fields on the clock which included Tin Hat (won a G3 Sat), Island Daze (has since won a 78) and Halvorsen (has sincew on a 150k race and placed in a G3). Looks a good thing here if he holds that form.

Race 3, No. 5 AMEROCK

Was going terribly this prep until a little spell and returned minus the blinkers where he wins in another stride last start. Stays in a BM64, up to a more suitable distance for this son of Americain and he did place in a BM78 at his only other start at this track and trip. Decent each way price at $12 in a rather weak line-up.

Mark Zahra rode a double here on the Lakeside circuit on January 28 and at 29.4% does have a strong winning strike on this track so far this season. He has 5 rides today.

Race 7, No. 4 GOLD MAG

Was rather workman-like first up in an even performance but is better than that and was beaten by a handy one in Tin Hat who won a Group 3 on Saturday. Has been well supported early to bounce back here ($3.20 - $2.35).

Leg 1: 5,6,7,8,9

Leg 2: Field

Leg 3: 3,4,15

Leg 4: 8

$66 gets you 40%.

Race 1: 1-6-5-2. Tough start where there looks some nice types. This well bred and expensive colt was the pick of the first starters from the trials who'll improve off whatever he does here but did look forward enough.

Race 2: 7-2-10-3. This isn't much easier but was well fancied in a few stronger maidens last prep before being tipped out. Blinkers on and Oliver takes the ride.

Race 3: 5-2-9-7. Bolter see above.

Race 4: 4-2-5-1. Had him as our bolter here last meeting at $18 where he was strong late for second. Makes some each way appeal again at $7 in a field that appears a little weaker.

Race 5: 7-6-8-9. Competitive race. Lack of tempo is the query but she nearly got away with it at Pakenham anyway against French Girl who won again in a handy race here last week.

Race 6: 2-14-1-6. Near impossible race, but she looks the safest way home each way if I was forced. Stuck on well here two weeks back after being 3 wide throughout against a slick winner.

Race 7: 4-3-15-8. Strong midweek BM70. Was happy to enough to give Gold Mag one more look and the money is there. If that rain hits it'll be a big help.

Race 8: 8-13-2-11. Best Bet see above.
