Flemington Trials - February 26

TRACK – Steeple Grass




HEAT 1 – 800m

Time: 46.92

This was the strongest heat of the morning but they went at a very gentle gallop.

LEEBAZ, LOMASU and STOLEN DANCE shared the early lead in a line of three across the track. They certainly didn’t break any records for the first two furlongs.

LEEBAZ wasn’t knocked around in narrowly winning the trial and he will no doubt be competitive in a race at Flemington in the next fortnight.

LOMASU looked very good in her work and she is the one to follow out of the trial. She was stretched out to 2000m last preparation and seems back better than ever – as so many of the Ellerton / Zahra horses are at the moment.

STOLEN DANCE worked to the line OK after being on speed.

BLACK TOMAHAWK looks to be back in tip-top order. He settled behind the leading trio and always travelled with plenty in hand.


HEAT 5 – 800m

Time: 45.10

This 2YO trial was the quickest heat of the morning.

QUEEN MAGDELINE sat outside the leader and took over under moderate riding coming around the home bend. She performed well.

TOKELAU had fitness on her side and was the clear standout. She led comfortably and was under restraint throughout in running second. It was a brilliant bit of work.

SMOOTH WHISKEY was under pressure ...
