STEEPLE GRASS, SOFT 6
THE TOP PERFORMANCES
Ht 1. SENSE OF OCCASION (TONY McEVOY)
Enjoyed a nice run in transit in fourth and closed in on the winner under restraint to go down narrowly. Could have won if the rider so desired. Failed to come up in the Spring after being runner-up in the Brisbane Cup but has since changed stables and caught the eye here.
Ht 4. SPEAK FONDLY (GAI WATERHOUSE)
Bounced straight to the front and dictated the tempo before increasing her lead under a good hold to power away for an easy win. Failed first-up in the Challenge Stakes when taking on older horses but looks back on track judging by this trial.
Ht 8. IMPENDING (JOHN O’SHEA)
Jumped well and settled in the box seat in a fairly slowly run trial. He wasn’t set any task but held his ground to the post and looked full of running. Beautifully bred by Lonhro from the outstanding mate Mnemosyne, so bred to be good.
Ht 12. MUSIC MAGNATE (BJORN BAKER)
Was allowed drift to midfield in the early stages but when he saw daylight at the top of the straight he sprinted fast to win easily. This was his second trial this time in and looks ready to win. May be a Stradbroke type....
